They have an incredibly interesting story as to how they got started, that we have permission to share.
Sally Evans-Lloyd shared the story with us while visiting our show booth at an event. Enjoy.
“It’s kind of a crazy story as to how we ended up at a greenhouse. We were looking for an investment property and toured the empty (and cluttered) Loveland Greenhouse in 2014. We laughed when we left the place for the first time, thinking we’d be crazy to buy a place that needed so much work. Then we both had second thoughts about it and felt like the Lord was leading us there. So we bought the place and spent the next year fixing it up. Our first thought was just to lease the various buildings out to people wanting to sell flowers or run a retail store, these were the various options we explored.
However, the zoning department had a long list of rules and restrictions, meaning we actually had to RUN the greenhouse. So we opened quietly in May of 2015 (rather silently, and without much advertising). We were operating with a bare-bones crew. Let me mention that neither my husband Mike or I have a background in plants or flowers, so it has been a learning experience. I’ve had lots of fund setting up the cottage store where we sell gift items (and Honey Sweetie Soap)! We opened on April 30th this year and plan to stay open until the end of October and then close for the season.
So take a few moments to drop by and say hello to Mike and Sally. They’d love to meet you!
