At Honey Sweetie Acres, we don’t make soap the easy way—we make it the right way. That starts with using real, fresh, raw goat milk from our farm, not powdered goat milk, and crafting our soap using the traditional “cold-process method’.
Over the years, we’ve learned firsthand that the quality of the milk makes a real, noticeable difference in the finished bar. It’s a difference your skin can feel.
Real Raw Goat Milk vs. Powdered Goat Milk: What’s the Difference?
Powdered goat milk begins as fresh milk, but it is “heated, dehydrated, and heavily processed” to make it shelf-stable. While convenient for mass production, this processing alters many of the milk’s natural qualities.
The goat milk we use on our farm is “fresh, whole, and unaltered”. We handle it carefully from the moment it’s collected, preserving its natural integrity before it ever goes into a batch of soap.
When making cold-process soap, that difference matters.
Why Cold-Process Soapmaking Makes Milk Quality Even More Important
Cold-process soap is made without external cooking heat. Instead, oils and lye transform naturally through saponification over time.
This slower, gentler method:
* Preserves naturally occurring glycerin
* Retains delicate milk components
* Produces a harder, longer-lasting bar
* Results in a milder, more conditioning soap
Because cold-process soap isn’t cooked, inferior or overly processed milk can’t be hidden. Using fresh raw goat milk allows the soap to retain the qualities that make goat milk soap so special.
 Why We Choose Real Raw Goat Milk
 1. Naturally Occurring Lactic Acid
Fresh goat milk contains “naturally occurring lactic acid”, which gently supports skin renewal by helping loosen dead skin cells. This mild exfoliation contributes to smoother, healthier-looking skin without harsh scrubbing.
Much of this benefit is reduced when milk is exposed to the high heat used to create powdered milk.
 2. Natural Butterfat for Superior Moisturizing
One thing we notice immediately when working with fresh milk is the **creamy butterfat content**. In cold-process soap, these natural fats help create a bar that feels exceptionally moisturizing and gentle.
Powdered goat milk often has altered or reduced fat content, which can result in a drier, less luxurious soap.
 3. Gentle, Skin-Friendly Cleansing
Goat milk is naturally closer to the skin’s own pH than many commercial cleansers. When used fresh in cold-process soap, it contributes to a **milder cleansing bar**—a quality our customers with dry or sensitive skin especially appreciate.
 4. Creamier Lather You Can Feel
Soap made with real raw goat milk produces a **rich, creamy lather** rather than large, drying bubbles. This creamy lather improves glide, reduces irritation, and makes everyday washing feel more nourishing.
 5. Less Processing, More Integrity
Every step of processing removes something valuable. Powdered goat milk is heated, dried, stored, shipped, and then reconstituted before use. The customer also has no way of knowing where or how the milk was sourced, how were the goats cared for, was there worming or medication residue in the milk or how the milk was stored prior to being dehydrated. All red flags in our opinion.
Our goat milk goes directly from the farm into the soap—handled carefully, often frozen fresh to protect its qualities, and used in small batches. “No shortcuts. No fillers. No compromises.”
Why Many Soapmakers Use Powdered Goat Milk
Powdered goat milk is popular because it:
* Has a long shelf life
* Is easier to store and ship
* Simplifies large-scale production
Last but not least, it does not require owning or maintaining a goat herd, which is a huge responsibility. Milk producing herds must be tested for disease, bacteria, somatic cell count, & butterfat. This is time consuming & costly but an absolute necessity for premium milk producing herds!
We understand why it’s used—but convenience has never been our priority.
Our Commitment to Small-Batch Quality
Working with fresh raw goat milk requires more care, more time, and more experience. Temperatures must be closely monitored, batches are kept small, and patience is essential.
We gladly do the extra work because we believe your skin deserves **the highest-quality ingredients**, not the most convenient ones.
When you choose our goat milk soap, you’re choosing a product made intentionally, honestly, and with respect for both the ingredients and the process.
 The Bottom Line
Not all goat milk soaps are created equal!.
Cold-process soap made with “real raw goat milk” offers superior creaminess, gentleness, and skin-conditioning benefits compared to soaps made with powdered milk. It’s a difference you can feel from the very first use.
At Honey Sweetie Acres, this is how we’ve always made our soap—and it’s how we always will.
“Your skin will thank you.”
