Premium milk requires a premium diet.  The daily cost for a dairy goat includes grain,   black sunflower seeds, beet pulp, organic kelp meal, and alfalfa hay.  Supplements for maximum milk production include natural probiotics, minerals, and baking soda.  Routine veterinary care includes fecals to check parasite levels, pregnancy blood tests, routine vaccinations, and treatment for any unexpected medical condition that is outside of normal care. (The cost of care also includes labor for hoof trimming, cleaning stalls, feed surfaces and water buckets).  We also use a substantial amounts of agricultural lime for the stalls and apple cider vinegar to clean feed surfaces.  Proper sanitation and bio-security protocols are an important part of farm management.
