If you have spent any time on our website, you know we are trying to reduce, re-use, and recycle like many companies.  We are consistently looking at and evaluating different packaging materials to achieve the best combination of packaging performance and, at the same time, consider the effect on the environment. Better, biodegradable, and recyclable plastics are being developed every day for the manufacturing market.  FInding lightweight packaging that still protects the product is a true challenge.

A few years ago, we found a great product for soap enthusiasts called the “Soap Standle.”  We met the owner at a huge wholesale show in Atlanta about 5 years ago when he was just getting started.  As the CEO, Jimmy Gould rightly pointed out, “avoiding soap goo is the single biggest reason people give for using liquid soap instead of bar soap.”

We recently learned that The SoapStandles are now being made with 100% “certified post-consumer plastic,” making it an even better choice.  The SoapStandle is a simple device that affixes to a bar of soap via small points that go into one side of the bar, creating a platform upon which the bar is elevated.  This allows air to circulate 360 degrees around the bar when it is not being used, allowing it to dry, thus preventing the buildup of “goo.”  Since the bar is no longer dissolving in the bath tray, bars can last up to 30% longer.
