Why are we qualified to do Custom Aromatherapy Formulation?

As aromatherapists, we have studied essential oils in excess of 250+ hours including skin anatomy & physiology plus herbal constituents.  We have completed research papers and case studies as required by NAHA to validate our formulation expertise.

Why does this matter?  In our previous blog, we extolled the necessary cautions with essential oils. Our intention is not to discourage the use, but to encourage their safe use.  As aromatherapists, we can help with that. With the massive wave of interest in essential oils, many consumers are seeking alternate methods of confronting pain, discomfort, skin irritation, irritability, nerves and all sorts of stress related maladies that living in society brings us.  Essential oils have proven to be one modality to help people in their daily lives. For many, the end goal is to reduce the amount and/or frequency of taking medicinal drugs if their condition allows.

What can Custom Aromatherapy Formulation do?

Even as trained aromatherapists. we cannot heal maladies. However, we may be able to help alleviate the degree of pain or bodily discomfort a person endures.  There have been many remarkable benefits and incredible results attributed to essential oils. However, in the end, the success or failure is often dependent on the person’s own body chemistry plus how it interacts with essential oil blends.  A person’s lifestyle and diet are also large contributors.

We already offer pre-made creams for sensitive skin, joint discomfort, sore muscles, eczema/psoriasis and burning/tingling in the extremities on this website.  These are some of the most common “ailments” in the general population.  Essential oils blends help about 70% of the people who try them.  They are not a cure-all.

While an essential oil blend often helps with other conditions, we cannot offer other blends as a pre-made formulation on the website because we need to know “specifically” what medications the client may be taking. Some oils interfere with diabetes medication, seizure meds, heart medication, cholesterol medication, blood thinners, statin drugs, kidney dialysis…..and the list goes on.

A personal medical history must be taken before we prepare a private formulation for a client.  We are not pharmacists, but we have the same responsibility to make sure the essential oils we use do not have contraindications with what the customer is already using.
