It is an organization of people passionate about quality who use quality control tools, ideas and expertise to make the world a better place. As an ASQ member, we have begun a process of statistical process control in the manufacture of our soap. This is a separate program from the good manufacturing practices that all soap-makers who sell their product should be familiar with.
This ASQ process takes more time and requires detailed record keeping. So why do it? One simple reason…..we want our customers to have the utmost confidence in our product and know that we value creating an artisan soap that is the same every single time and is superior to our competitors. We will ensure the same weight, same alkalinity and level of hardness in all our bars. Consistency is a cornerstone of Quality.
This statistical system goes further by allowing us to evaluate the quality of our raw materials, such as ensuring that our essential oils are pure and have not been diluted in a carrier oil. Essential Oil quality varies with the location grown, climate or temperature, water supply and harvesting methods. We will not accept large variations in quality or therapeutic properties, so monitoring is critically important.
Even with this increased oversight, we are very happy to announce we have no plans to increase either fragrance or botanical soap prices for the remainder of the calendar year. We want to keep our soap priced for the average consumer and allow everyone to enjoy the benefits of pure goat milk soap. Prices on our essential oil soap selection will increase by only 5% on May 1st to help mitigate 15-20% increase in the cost of essential oils from our suppliers.
